Sekiguchi Kensei visits Melbourne
It was with pleasure that I once again accepted an invitation from Komei Juku in
Melbourne for an intensive weekend seminar. I do look forward to these. Ash Sensei’s
intention was not only the intended instruction during the seminar, that was clear, but
also preparation in advance for Adelaide in October. I could see the sense in that..!
So to that end, the tone was set for the next two days. Bangai, Toryu bangai and
Kumitachi. And let’s not forget some suburi and contact exercises. I can say, to there
credit, much was done and much was learnt all around. An improved level was obvious
right away, since my last visit 3 to 4 months ago. So well done everyone.
Naginata is also making a place there in Melbourne with Ash Sensei and her group
now practicing. Shimizu Sensei will be well pleased with there progress I’ll reckon.
A terrific barbeque was held with open fire and lots of laughs. It was a really pleasant
evening of students and families together, which made a terrific compliment to our two
days of training. I’d like to give thanks to all those involved in this seminar, for your
courtesy and strong efforts, a most excellent weekends training. I look forward to the
next.

JAFA martial arts demonstrations Kodomo no hi festival
A Letter of thanks from Chris Gillies, Komei Juku in Adelaide's recent demonstration for the fund raising for recovery relief in Japan.
A big thank you to Robert sensei in his effort to promote good will and represent the school. Dear Robert Sensei,
I just wanted to express my gratitude and that of Mike Dunphy and the JAFA for your contribution at the Kodomo no Hi festival on May 1st.
It was very pleasing to see all groups working well together safely and showing good spirit and technique in their demonstrations.
JAFA was able to raise $8000 and donated a total of $10,000 to the Japanese recovery cause.
Details can be found at the website below. Hopefully we will have some photos on the website soon.
